Imtiaz Billah specializes in international patent preparation and prosecution for biopharmaceutical, software, and electronics innovators. Technical fields in which he focuses include computer software, wireless communication methods, integrated circuits, semiconductor processing, and advanced materials.
Prior to joining the firm, Imtiaz was a patent agent at IBM. At IBM, he gained extensive experience drafting the specifications, drawings, and claims for patent applications, corresponding with U.S. and international inventors, and filing responses to Office Actions.
Before beginning his career in patent law, Imtiaz worked as a chemist in both industrial and academic settings. He became well versed in synthetic preparation of organic compounds, transition metal complexes, and polymers; spectroscopic characterization; and reactivity studies.
Imtiaz received a M.A., Chemistry (with a focus on Inorganic Chemistry), from the University of Chicago in 2014; a M.S., Chemistry (with a focus on Organic Chemistry), from the University of Chicago in 2005; and a B.S., Chemistry, from Brandeis University in 2004, with honors.
