Milan is a Patent Engineer at Torrey Pines Law Group®, supporting the firm’s intellectual property practice with experience in artificial intelligence and proprietary systems developed in-house at the firm. With a background in patent preparation and prosecution, Milan applies hands-on experience in AI model development, including prompt engineering and generative algorithms, to help innovators protect and commercialize emerging technologies.
Milan collaborates closely with attorneys and clients to draft, analyze, and optimize patent applications involving large language models (LLMs), machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and neural networks. By leveraging complex prompt engineering techniques, Milan ensures precise technical disclosures and enhances clarity in patent specifications for complex AI-driven solutions.
Milan has also been a distinguished youth legal advocate and policy researcher, serving as Lead Youth Attorney with Escondido Education COMPACT for over four years. In this capacity, Milan defended and prosecuted more than 125 cases before judges and juries, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen in contract law, negotiation, and punitive measures. His responsibilities included conducting thorough case preparation by meeting with defendants, parents, and witnesses, reviewing evidence, and leading peer juries — experience that has equipped him with a strong foundation in courtroom procedure and legal reasoning. Milan further built his expertise as an intern at Orbach Huff & Henderson LLP, where he joined the education law department, reviewed landmark cases, observed due process hearings, and learned about the rights and responsibilities of students, families, and school districts under special education law.
Milan also applies those skills to community policy initiatives as a Live Well Youth Leader for the County of San Diego. In this role, he works alongside attorneys within the Office of County Counsel’s Child/Family Wellbeing subcommittee to research and address child welfare policy and county bylaws, as well as to organize and summarize 16 years of county foster data letters. As Chairman and Youth Commissioner for San Diego, Milan facilitated meetings, helped develop youth-focused legal frameworks, and advised the Mayor and City Council on key issues facing vulnerable populations, including foster and immigrant youth. His broader advocacy includes conducting research as a UC San Diego Research Assistant, contributing to the Critical Refugee Studies Collective, analyzing immigration policies, and collaborating on projects to support refugee youth. Fluent in English and Spanish, Milan has earned recognition through awards such as the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and Civic Seal of Engagement, underscoring his impact in both legal practice and policy leadership throughout San Diego County.
Milan is completing his undergraduate education at UC Irvine and is dedicated to mastering technical and legal concepts at the intersection of innovation and intellectual property, with the goal of attending law school and becoming a patent attorney.
